Every time, the same posts circulate: “10 Things You Should Never Say to an Autistic Person”, “Famous Autistic People Who Changed the World”, “How Hard It Is to Live with Autism.” But where are the stories that truly make a difference? Where are the voices of autistic people themselves?

This article isn’t here to make neurotypical readers feel good. This is for the autistic community — for us. So, let’s talk about what really matters.

🔥 1. We’re Allowed to Give Input, but Not to Make Decisions
Autistic people are rarely included in decision-making about autism policy. Governments, organizations, and so-called ‘experts’ with no lived experience of autism continue to dictate what is ‘best’ for us. Why are autistic voices still ignored in conversations about our own lives?

🔥 2. The Burden of Adaptation Always Falls on Us
Nearly every article about autism ends with advice on how autistic people can better adjust to the neurotypical world. But how often are neurotypical people asked to meet us halfway? Why is it always up to us to try harder?
