My Ten Challenges and How I Deal with Them

From sensory overload to self-acceptance, how I face and grow from them daily.

Living as an autistic adult can sometimes feel like solving a puzzle with many moving pieces. Every day, I experience challenges that can be hard to manage, but I also learn ways to overcome them. I want to share these experiences with you so you can better understand what it’s like to live as an autistic person. Along the way, I’ll explain how I deal with these situations, why these challenges matter, and how the world can become a more welcoming place for people like me. By sharing my story, I hope to help others see the value of inclusion and understanding.

1. Too Much Noise and Busy Places

Imagine walking into a store with bright lights, loud music, and people talking all at once. For me, this kind of environment can feel overwhelming, like everything is happening all at once. My brain notices every sound, light, and smell more strongly than most people’s brains do. This is called sensory overload, and it can make me feel very tired or stressed.

What Helps Me: To deal with sensory overload, I use tools like noise-canceling headphones or sunglasses to block out some of the noise and light. I also take breaks in quiet areas when I need to calm…
