Living with autism can feel like being in a world that is not made for me. Loud sounds, bright lights, and social situations can be overwhelming. My brain works differently, which sometimes makes it hard to keep up with others. But over time, I have found ways to manage. I have learned that I don’t have to change who I am — I can find ways to make the world work better for me.
Learning to adapt has not been easy. It takes time, practice, and patience. I have developed routines to help me avoid feeling overwhelmed, found quiet spaces where I feel safe, and learned ways to handle conversations without getting too tired. I have also realized how important it is to stand up for myself. Whether it means asking for help or explaining my needs to others, self-advocacy is an important part of my journey. Accepting my differences instead of fighting against them has helped me feel more confident in who I am.
